About National trends and services facet....

The National Trends and Services facet addresses the social inequities that persist in black communities throughout the United States. The Claremont Area Chapter of The Links, Incorporated is committed to raising awareness on economic, health, social justice, and other barriers that affect our quality of life. Our goal is to eliminate disparities in these areas for the betterment of our communities.

The Facet’s Goals include:

Partnering with the Foothill Family Shelter a transitional facility to provide services and educational support for homeless adults and children from the west end of San Bernardino County. Our goal is to support the acquisition of skills that will enable them to maintain a home, job and at the same time develop the necessary self-esteem to function as a successful stable adult.

Partnering with the Pomona Valley Habitat for Humanity in their work towards eliminating substandard housing locally through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing polices; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions.

Provide support to our chapter mentoring program “Look At Me” which supports students of color attending California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in the areas of personal, professional and leadership development.

Short Term Goals:

Participate in Census 2020 Community awareness activities

Participate in Voter Registration activities in conjunction with Western Area and National Partners.

Link Up The Vote

Claremont Chapter members have been busy working on Link Up The Vote. We have been writing Postcards to Swing States, registering people to vote, texting voters, and holding a voter fair in partnership with the Pan Hellenic Groups at Cal Poly Pomona College.

An Evening with Van Jones

On October 10, 2024, members of The Claremont Area (CA) Chapter and spouses went to Scripps College in Claremont CA to see Van Jones, of CNN News speak about the upcoming presidential election  on November 5, 2024. We had dinner together at Elvira's Mexican Restaurant in Claremont, CA. We left fired up and answering his question: What are you gonna do?? I am going to continue writing postcards to Swing states and texting voters!

NAACP Partnership

The Links, Incorporated has a long standing partnership with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People that started with our founders. The Memorandum of Understanding between these two organizations provides an opportunity for chapters to join forces to advocate for change to ensure civil liberties are protected. Leveraging the NAACP’s Advocacy Initiatives and The Links Program Facets will forge a partnership destined to transform the communities where we work and serve.
