Claremont Area Chapter of The Links, Incorporated
The National Trends and Services facet addresses the social inequities that persist in black communities throughout the United States. The Claremont Area Chapter of The Links, Incorporated is committed to raising awareness on economic, health, social justice, and other barriers that affect our quality of life. Our goal is to eliminate disparities in these areas for the betterment of our communities.
The Facet’s Goals include:
Partnering with the Foothill Family Shelter a transitional facility to provide services and educational support for homeless adults and children from the west end of San Bernardino County. Our goal is to support the acquisition of skills that will enable them to maintain a home, job and at the same time develop the necessary self-esteem to function as a successful stable adult.
Partnering with the Pomona Valley Habitat for Humanity in their work towards eliminating substandard housing locally through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing polices; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions.
Provide support to our chapter mentoring program “Look At Me” which supports students of color attending California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in the areas of personal, professional and leadership development.
